5. Katogo.
This is easiest food to cook in Uganda and also one of the cheapest if not the cheapest . This is recipe includes a mixture of foods that are cooked together to come up with the meal.
Katogo comes in many foods, but the commonest one being cassava and beans in Central Uganda cooked together . But others include bananas and beans mostly in Western Uganda, bananas and ground nuts paste, Irish potatoes and beans also in Western Uganda . This is loved by many and highly consumed because of easiness to be cooked in the least time.

4. Luwombo
This is basically a recipe of preparing various foods , where sauce say like chicken stew is covered in banana leaves after it has been prepared ready . This is done in order for it to raise its aroma quality. This kind of recipe is very time consuming and so it is prepared on big occasion in Buganda central Uganda .It is prepared commonly on introduction ceremonies for husband visiting family and it is highly treasured in Buganda culture.
3. Nkonko.
This may be directly interpreted as chicken stew, this is highly popular food because of the various recipes in the different parts of the country. Enkoko has been one of the most popular years for over 100 years now. Anciently it was treated to be food for the loyals because indigenous hens could take over a full year to fully mature and so it would be hard for a peasant to rear and feed on a daily basis.
2. Matooke.
This is the oldest form of food in the whole of Uganda. It may be directly translated as bananas .
It is prepared in various forms from katoogo as mentioned before to paste where it is prepared in banana leaves which these squeezed in a basket for it to become paste which is locally referred to as’ manyige’ or ‘matooke manyige‘. The manyige are always eaten with meat or nkoko.
Kikomando
Before number one there is one that deserves an Honorable mention and that is ‘kikomando’ a fast food which is a mixture of chapatti and beans whose popularity is driven by its cheap price a $ dollar and its easiness to prepare.
The Rolex is by far the most popular food in Uganda. Though many of you may recognize it as a watch brand from Switzerland. In Uganda Rolex is a fast food ,which is a mixture of many spices but the commonest being wheat chapatti, fried eggs, cabbages and raw tomatoes also known as Nyanya mbisi.
Rolex just like Kikomando is driven by its fastness to prepared and also its cheap price in the country. This has made highly consumed by students and youths who have made it the most popular food in Uganda
