1. Who is Azawi?
Azawi real name Priscila Zawedde is a top Ugandan female artist, song writer, dancer and multitalented musical performer based in Kampala.
The artist has one of the top young talents in Uganda for years 2020 and 2021 with record breaking streams on the biggest streaming platforms in the country.

2. Why is she called Azawi?
Azawi got her name Azawi from her real name Zawedde which she initially wanted to shorten Zawi but her label Swangz found that name copyrighted by Sarah Zawedde who was diplomatic with them changing the name.
Julius Kyazze the chair suggested adding an A to the name to make it Azawi which they found quite interesting and comfortable to move with.
3. Where did Azawi study from?
Azawi attended Buganda road primary school from which she was inspired into the art with the school events like MDD which she says she loved so much, she continued Kiika where she learned a lot in playing instruments and dances and she credits her creativity to the dance and performance crew where she was for 6 years.

4. Why is Azawi very successful and loved?
Azawi credits her success to the journey she has been through from the Kiika crew, China performances to the band performances with Eddy Kenzo.
She got an opportunity to perform at 10 years of Eddy Kenzo at Serena and sold a song your fishy they made as a freestyle also introduced to top artists and Kussein the producer.
5. How did Azawi join Swangz Avenue?
Azawi joined Swangz Avenue after Kussein submitted her Quinamino project Julius Kyazze the Label manager intended for Winnie Nwagi.
Kyazze loved the song and her other songs she had sent who later called her for a record deal with the label.
6. Who are Azåwi´s parents?
Azawi currently has her mother whom she says has been supportive of her career throughout the years and has been providing support to her career. Her father died when she was in Ordinary level education but she also says she had been there for her through the years.
7. Was Azawi in China?
During her Advanced level education the artist got an opportunity to perform in China where they were performing dances in China parks which experience the artist says was very special and very different because of the food and culture of the country. She also went back during her senior vacation for the same deal.
8. When did Azawi start writing?
Azawi started writing when she was 14 years when she wrote her first song Bambi with his long term friend who helped her learn how to write. She started approaching and calling artists to pick their contacts then trying to sell them her written songs. She had got her first opportunity to talk Carol Nantongo manager who actually loved the song though the project was not released.

9. Why does Azawi dress differently?
Azawi says her dressing is inspired by her freedom to express who she is as a person and she doesn’t mind people’s judgment of how she expresses herself as a person.
The song writer also says people should learn to accept others and show each other love on the way they are not to judge the and put them in these small boxes of character which is most times wrong and does not define a person.

10. Which genre of music does Azawi sing?
The artist fuses various genres of music including Afrobeat, raggea and RnB to make Afrofusion a genre she says I not specific to any country but she tries as much as she can not to limit her musical ability in a given genre.
She has also been regarded in Uganda as an Afropop artist because of the popularity of her music on various streaming platforms.
Azawi was the highest streaming artist in 2020 up to 2021 in Uganda on Apple music and third highest on Spotify just behind Eddy Kenzo the most popular digital artist in the country and sheebah Kalungi another big female artist
