Okukyala or Kukyala is a popular cultural before marriage ceremony done a the fast official visit of the fiance ( the man ) to the woman’s family to been officially recognise and to agree on the required bride price. The fiance travels with few members of the family to help him on bargaining the bride price with the woman’s family .The man aim is to give that first visit to the fiance’s family to inform them that their daughter is now seeing someone responsible.

2. WHERE DO THEY DO OKUKYALA IN UGANDA ?
The kukyala is done at the fiancee’s home ( the woman ) as it is to visit and to talk to the woman’s family most especially her Dad and conditions and to possibly amum to agree on marriage conditions and possibly on the bride price to be paid . The woman’s family therefore has to prepare for the man’s visit at their home.

Okukyala is done at a time when the couple agrees that they are serious with the relationship and the fiance is ready to face the parents of their woman and talk to them about their child for moving on into a serious relationship.

4. HOW DO THEY DO OKUKYALA IN UGANDA ?
The Kukyala is done by the fiance who visits the home of the woman to talk to her parents though the home preparations are done by the woman’s family that prepares lunch and set up for the fiance to visit and talk about the marriage issues .
5. WHY DO THEY DO KUKYALA IN UGANDA ?
The main reason for doing the Kukyala ceremony is for the two families of the couple to agree on the bride price and all underlying conditions of marriage and for the family of the man to prove that they are serious with the relationship and want to to make in official in the near future. The ceremony is also done to show the man their daughter is willing to move on with and get the families together.
