Is Uganda a peaceful country?

 

Peace as many would say is dependent on various factors that determine the status of a country in terms of security.

But for the most part peace can be gauge depending on the following factors including political stability, democracy, economic stability and individual freedom and human rights. These all end up in two factors including political stability and democracy.

Uganda as a country most of its nationals about 90% would say that the country is peaceful mainly because of the relative political stability since 1986. The country since then has been led by the National Resistance Movement through its visionary leader President Museveni.

The President of Uganda Yoweri K Museveni has been the back bone of the country´s stable structure as he focused on creating an army for the people of the country. The UPDF has been at the center of the peace in Uganda eliminating most of the challenging conditions in the country including removing guns from civilians that had made them violent most especially in the Northern Uganda.

Fighting tribal wars of cattle rustling in the last 36 years in the country.

This is because before 1996 Uganda had been experiencing political instability through wars which were in the need to capture power.

However, this has not been entirely successful as some of the population has been questioning the democracy in Uganda. This is because the current government of the National Resistance Movement President Museveni has been in power since 1986.

This has decelerated the country´s economic development due to increased corruption in the big offices in the country. 

This has brought the question of the real peace the people of Uganda require and has increased its demand from the government to let the country prosper by initiating democracy to allow other leaders instead of the one party NRM leadership.
