33 Ugandan doctors arrested

 

 

33 Health workers have been arrested and detained by the Ugandan police at the Central Police Station in Kampala. The health workers who are under the Uganda Medical Association were moving peaceful to the Uganda national Parliament to deliver a petition to the Speaker of the Parliament Jacob Oulanyah whom they said was responsible and able to help them.

From 12th December, 2021 the Uganda Medical Association have been on a demonstration since were apparently fired by Uganda Ministry of health which said that they had to leave their internship as doctors in all Public hospitals where they on their collage internship.

This came after the Doctors demanded for better working conditions, supplies and increase in pay as Medical interns working in public hospitals.

Today as the Uganda Medical Association which was founded in 1994 to cater for professional and socioeconomic interests of medical doctors through their association organized to move to parliament to petition The Speaker Jocob Oulanyah.

They were however stopped by the Police who arrested them and detained them at CPS.
