 Is General Katumba Wamala the next Ugandan president?

 

 

The presidency of Uganda has been in the Museveni family since 1986 since his army capture of power from the unstable leadership in the country.

With this longevity in service to the country there is high uncertainty of who is to replace Uganda´s longest serving president Y.K Museveni after he departs from power from retirement or when he is voted out of the seat.

General Katumba Wamala is is one of the commonest name in the conversation of replacing the because of his potential and support from the public in Uganda.

The military general who currently serves as Minister of Transport in Uganda has been servicing in the army for over 23 years before being moved to the public office service by the president to various different Ugandan ministries.

With recent attempt on his life where the serving Minister was attacked in his car during a journey and attempted to be killed in 2021 which led to a devastating death of his daughter during the attack. This attack raised questions in country with rumors saying that he was attacked to be warned about any attempt on the biggest office in the land as the public had started trusting the general as their new leader to replace Y.K Museveni.

General Katumba had gained public confidence for presidency one being because of his education where the general finished his military education at United States Military College and the other being the general´s service in the army where he service in different countries in include Somalia, Mogadishu, and Congo. He also played a role in the defeat of Rebel group led by Joseph Konyi who had become a major challenge in Northern Uganda where he was pushed the rebel group to Congo.
