Minister Ogwang speaks arrests of District Engineers

 

 

Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the office of president, Hon Ogwang has spoken out on the growing concerns by Uganda Institution of professional Engineers over concerns of arrest of the district engineers under the organization.

The minister has been recently moving to districts and arresting the district and municipality Engineers over accusations of misuse and negligence to use of government funds by the engineers.

The state minister for Economic Monitoring Peter Ogwang during his locus visits to municipality councils and district offices was tasked to evaluate the work of all infrastructure and service provided by the government which has been his main focus throughout 2021 looking the activities at the district levels.

He says however the work he analyzed in the areas has been substandard which has raised questions of why the Engineers have neglected their work at the station.

The minister says that the challenge is that he carries out his work o the ground level in which no body can dispute his fact at the levels

Stating an example in Bujiri district where 1.2 billion Ugandan shillings was only used to paint which he states is self-visible how there is misuse of government funds.
