Top 8 most popular languages Uganda
With over 56 indigenous tribes over 49 original languages are spoken in Uganda with most of the tribes in the country having independent languages of their own.
The list provide the top 8 most used languages in the country with the languages that are spoken by the highest number of people in the country
1. English
English the commonest language and most popular language in Uganda with 23.7 million people in the country who can understand and use the language in communication. This is because English is the official language in Uganda which is taught in all school and use for all education in Uganda. This is because Uganda was colonized by the British with all British institutions in the Country.
2. Luganda
Luganda is the indigenous language for the Buganda Kingdom which is the biggest and most populous tribe in Uganda located in the Central region of Uganda. It is under the leadership of the Kabaka who is their cultural King who comes from the Buganda Royal family under Centralized leadership.
Luganda is spoken throughout the central region by over 9.2 million Ugandans and other region by the Baganda.

3. Lunyankole
Lunyankole is the indigenous language of the Banyakole in the Ankole region which is the second most popular indigenous language in Uganda where it is spoken by over 7.3 million people both from the region and through Kampala and the whole country.
4. Lusoga
Most comonly spoken in Eastern Uganda in the Busoga Region as one of the largest Tribes in Uganda. Lusoga is the indigenous language of the Basoga a Tribe in the Eastern region with leadership of their King Nadiope who is appointed by the cultural division in the tribe called the Bataaka.
5. Luchiga
As the fifth largest tribe in Uganda the Bachiga speak their indigenous language known as Lukiga which is spoken through their region in the Kigezi region in the Bakiga in Western Uganda where there is their place of origin.
6. Iteso
Iteso is a Tribe with one of the most spoken languages with over 3.5 million people from the region who speak the language and use it as their indigenous language in the region
7. Luo
Luo has several indigenous languages included in the region these are languages spoken from the Northern languages by the people from Lango, Alur and Acholi.
8. Swahili
Swahili is one of the most spoken language in Uganda being the highest spoken language in the military where it is used as the second language in The Uganda People’s Defense Forces UPDF after English as official languages. Swahili is also being promoted by the government of Uganda as part as a resolution by the East African community policy to improve on communication throughout the whole region in Tanzania and Kenya.
