Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine is Uganda’s leading opposition Leader. He is the Current President of the National Unity Platform which has the most opposition Members of Parliament in Uganda. He was the runners up I the 2021 Presidential General elections.
What made him a strong Candidate in 2021
Mr Wine surprised everyone in Uganda from the critics to the leading opposition party after his very fast emergence to popularity a worthy Candidate considering His past. Kyagulanyi is a Music pop star who had been producing and recording platinum singles and albums since 20002 when he burst on the scene. He first contested for Member of Parliament seat for Kyadondo where he received massive support and later started a Strong opposition People Power movement later turning into a party.
Why did he fail to Win
Mr Kyagulanyi relied much on his popularity as an artist to help his 2021 presidential Campaign which worked for him throughout Central where he was massively popular and loved, however some parts of Eastern Uganda. His music However had not reached the most of Western and Northern Uganda where few had just had of him.
Mr Wine also lacked alliances with leaders from these regions which people trusted to convey his views of a new Uganda that he was promising to Ugandans. In Uganda to win a region a leader should have house hold names in the districts and Villages to help them articulate theier views to the Nationals , this is mainly because few people have access to main stream media including Televisions and the internet.
Alliances affected him with the tribal Politics because he lacked alliance with most tribes including Iteso, Banyankole, Bachiga, Basoga, Langi with him having one Tribe Buganda as Part of the Most Influential Tribes in Uganda.
Bobi Wine Current Plan
Robert Kyagulanyi has been currently making international Trips to various International Conventions Providing insight to European Countries on the Politics of the Country these including Trips to Sweden and Germany and many others. With him looking for international help and assistance in National Unity Plan to win.
The right resolutions to win
In Addition to his endeavors of looking for International assistance Mr Wine needs to address the above problems with his 2021 Campaign which including working on reaching the various regions in Uganda and Looking for alliances that would assist in the Tribal Gap his political party has in Uganda.
Bobi Wine should also answer the security question as most Ugandans question his ability to keep Uganda at peace something President Museveni has relied on for all his 35 years of leadership. This is Because people fear that he would not lead the military and police which are Uganda’s backbone to peace and security.
