Background
He was born into a family with a music history, with a Nubian father, Ratib Mududu Ombedriku who passed away on 14th august 20026 and a Muganda mother. He was raised in Mengo and Lweza.

He went to Shimoni Demonstration School, St Henry’s Kitovu, Bishop Sisto Mazzoldi S.S. Lweza and finally Makerere University where he did a Bachelors of Commerce.

He is married to his longtime partner, Gloria Mutoni Salha with whom they met while at campus and have had three children. At the time Gloria was staying in one of the hostels along Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road. They got married at Kibuli mosque in Kampala on 10th October,2021 where Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobiwine) served as the best man and his wife Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi was the matron.
How his Musical career began.
He started off his music journey in his O’level ( St Henry’s College Kitovu, Masaka) where he formed a group with some of his friends called the Nubian Squad. The group stayed together till campus and while still together they moved around composing and performing at karaoke events.

He has a number of songs some of which include Nakazzi, Yegwe, Nteredde, Kyoyoya, Twakowa, Maama, Osobola, Man and Woman, Superwoman, Everyone no child is born to die, among others and his best hits include Adam ne Kawa, Aniyaleta Okwagala, Ghetto and Osobola.
His New releases
His latest release was in September 2026 and is Nkwebaze Ntya that featured pupils of Our Lady of Fatima, Bbiina. Making it a year and four months since his last release Superwoman in May 2025.
Nubian’s relationship with Bobiwine and how they met.
During the numerous movements and karaoke performances, Nubian got to meet Bobiwine. Eventually the two became very close friends especially after Nubian Squad broke up as some members moved abroad and then Li started spending more time with Bobiwine and his Squad. During an interview on NTV, Mwasusuze mutya, Nubian mentioned that Bobi wine invited him to the studio one day and together they recorded their first song, Ani yaleta okwagala. Eventually, adam ne kawa followed which became a big hit. It was produced by Tony Houls and Magic Washington at Dreams Studios, which is owned by Bobiwine’s brother Eddie Yawe. Nubian and Bobiwine are almost brothers as they both genuinely support each other , be it in politics, marriage or music.
How Bobiwine’s Political Journey has affected Li’s music career.
Provided that Nubian’s fame and music career was highly dependent on the collaborations he had with Bobiwine, his music career became uncertain when the latter joined politics as he could no longer actively produce music. Nubian stood by Bobiwine when he chose to pursue music but his name also started fading in the music industry even when he continued producing more music.
Nubian Li’s Journey into Politics
After Bobiwine joined politics, Nubian supported him without looking back and at one point got arrested and detained during the 2020/2021 election period while campaigning for him. Nubian eventually developed interest in becoming a politician himself and in March 2025, he publicly announced his intention to contest for mayor, Nakawa Division, Kampala. On 29th August, 2025, the National Unity Platform confirmed him as its flagbearer for the race in the 2026 general elections. He emerged victorious against his opponents, Paul Mugambe and Susan Zawedde, therefore becoming the mayor of Nakawa Division.
